“You will never have this day with your children again. Tomorrow, they will be a little older than they were today. This day is a gift. Just breathe, notice, study their faces and little feet. Pay attention. Relish the charms of the present. Enjoy today. It will be over before you know it.”

What to expect
Whether in studio or on location, your family session will be stress free and enjoyable. Which will result in images that will look and feel natural. This will be a chance to take a bit out of your busy lives to simply enjoy each others company. During your session I will provide direction to ensure your family is posed in the most flattering ways and capture your true connections.
The only time limit on your session is daylight. Most portrait sessions typically take 30 minutes to 3 hours depending on location, outfit choices and moods! Come ready to have fun and leave the stress of your day behind, engage in your family in the now.
Determining what to wear to your Family’s session can be tough. Here are some tips to help you decide.
Choosing a few focal colors that create a cohesive look amongst everyone will allow your image to take on a timeless feel. Pick 2 main colors then add some softer tones that accent your color scheme.
Since you will be hanging your new family art on your walls for many years to come, consider your home’s style. Pick clothes that compliment and blend into your decor.
Pick out a couple accessories to add texture to your portraits. Accessories can add to individual outfits and even tie family members outfits together. For example, dad is wearing a blue tie and daughter is wearing the same color in a scarf.
Pick clothing that will be appropriate all year long. Those Santa sweaters my not look as good on your walls once you put the Christmas decorations away!
Plan ahead. Give yourself plenty of time to get everyone’s outfits. The more time you have the less stressed you will be.
As an additional complimentary service to you Felicia offers an extensive client closet with over 60 dresses for Mom and daughters.
Need more options or opinions? Felicia is happy to shop the stores with you or your own closet to help you choose the perfect outfits.
What not to wear
Avoid too many accessories. While wearing a few accessories can make an outfit, too many can be very distracting in an image. I recommend no more than 2-3 accessories.
Avoid distracting patterns or clothing with graphics/logos. Subtle stripes or polka dots can be okay, but it is best to stay with solid colors.
Avoid colors that are going to blend into the background of the location.
Avoid dressing in a style you are not comfortable with. If you are uncomfortable it will come across in your images.
Avoid matching too much. While you want cohesion with everyone in the image, overly matching or wearing the exact same thing can give your images a feeling of awkwardness.
